The Ancient Mayan Culture

The ancient Mayas had a very unique view of things, especially their religious beliefs. They believed that their rulers were descendants of the gods. Their blood was the ideal sacrifice for the gods. The Mayas would do this with their own blood or that of captives of royal blood. They believed that after death, they would go to the Underworld called Xibalba. This was a place of fright, where their evil gods tested unfortunate visitors.
