The Lord of the Rings - Part 1

“The Lord Of The Rings” trilogy was a great piece of English literature in more ways than one. It is the result of years and years of tireless laboring by a highly talented writer. Tolkien has worked for 14 years on the six books divided into 3 volumes that make up the Lord of the Rings trilogy. In that, he has fabricated entire languages, planned and mapped out large expanses of land such as the Shire and Middle Earth to name a few. An imagination like that needs to be well acknowledged. Yet when thumbing through the pages of the Lord of the Rings, you cannot help but get put off by the sheer bulk of the text. Simply put, the book is just too massive. It is then ironic that Tolkien should suggest that the book is “too short” in the foreword. (This book review is solely on the Fellowship of the Ring – the first two books in the set of 6.
