The 14th century Bubonic Plague also known as Black Death was one of the great epidemic scourges of mankind. It swept across Europe and Asia in a series of devastating pandemics during the Middle Ages. It is caused by the germ Pasteurella pestis and even though it does not last long it has a very high death rate. Since ancient times, terrible epidemics of plague have swept through Europe and Asia.
