The Impact of Ravens

Louis Riel – one of the most controversial figures in Canadian history. Louis Riel was born in 1844 at St. Boniface. Throughout his childhood he learned to speak both French and English, and he studied to become a priest. However, he did not complete these studies, and moved to the U.S. to become a store clerk. But by 1868 he grew homesick and decided to move back to his Métis homeland. It was in this year that he first set the stage for many historic events to follow.
Many people think Louis Riel was a hero, and many believe that he was a villain. In this essay I will discuss the matter, and all of the reasons that cause people to take up either point of view. Personally, I believe that Louis Riel was a hero, even though he did do some bad things. No one can be perfect, and what he did may have turned out for the better.
