The House With The Gapevine

In the short story, “The House With The Grapevine” the boy is listening to his father tell him a story about his child hood and he is confused as to why his father disliked it so much. In his day, when he went to school he only had to go to school half time and the rest of the time he worked outside. He used to work at an orchard in the winter where they grew grapes and apples and pears. The son has no idea how the father could have possibly hated it. In the boy’s opinion, that would have been the ideal situation. The story goes on the boy learns why the father hated it so much.
