The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros is the story of Esperanza’s growing up. I think that her interiorization and coming of age is the theme in the novel. To understand this novel, you have to understand how she is growing up and making the decisions she is making. Also, how she is making a path for her life different from the path of the other women in her society.
