The Hispanic Stereotype

Stereotype is defined as a fixed impression of a group of people. As you probably noticed the definition doesn’t specify whether this fixed impression is going to be a negative impression or a positive impression on that group of people. Being a Hispanic in the United States I’m usually faced with many stereotypes. Some can be good and some just aren’t very nice and can actually be very offensive. There are stereotypes like “all Hispanics come from Mexico” or “all Hispanics play soccer.” Those stereotypes are the funny ones and personally don’t bother me. Then there are stereotypes that start to belittle Hispanics and that I start finding offensive like “all Hispanics cut grass” or “Hispanics are too dumb to try and learn English that everything is got to be written in Spanish for them.” Well my paper is not going to be about whether those stereotypes are true or not.
