The Good and Bad of Hauling Hay

If there’s one thing I don’t look forward to, it’s hauling square bales of hay. I

will tell you the good and bad things about hay hauling.

I start out hooking up the black dodge to the dark blue, thirty foot trailer. I pull it

to the field where I see hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of golden square bales of

hay. I hook the red hay loader up to the trailer and start loading. Gavin drives along the

side of a row of hay as the loader grabs it with sharp metal teeth that are hooked on to a

chain that turns with the wheels. As its shoots the bales up to me I stack them in specific

order so when the trailer is full, strapping the hay down won’t be necessary. When I get

about sixty or seventy bales on the trailer I start to work up a pretty good sweat. I grab

the bales of hay from the loader above me and hay falls all over me sticking to...
