The characters in Tennesse Willimas “the Glass Meagerie” have a small problem, tehy cannot face reality. It seems they are all stuck in their own “dreamland” and need pinched-kicked-back into reality. When looking at the story, the characters Amanda, Tom, and Laura seem so different but using cited works from different authors/commentaries we will see they are very much alike.
“The helplessness of the characters to convey their emotions to one another, Amanda tells Tom, “there so many things in my heart that I cannot describe to you!” Tom replies “That’s true of me to!”(leverich 564). “This painful inability to express their feelings, and their confident, the need to depart not just the home but from each other creates a situation seething with frustration.”(leverich 564). This frustration, that each character shares, will send each one of them into his/her own little world, ultimately forever.
