The gift that never lived

It was a rainy day and I was hoping ballet was cancelled. It was not. I got my favorite black leotard on, and pulled on my Nike sweatpants. I was ready for today’s class, but something did not feel right, it was like a quiz I didn’t study for, or something like that. I ran out to the jeep, got out my, and started it up. I felt sort of guilty not having a licensed driver in the front seat, but as my mother was asleep, I really didn’t feel like waking her up. Besides I would be seventeen in two months, so it was no big deal.
When I got to the dance studio it looked like my class had already started. I quietly tiptoed in, and joined in on the stretches. When the stretches were done, Madame told jenny to take over, and called me too her. She shared with me the lecture I was all too familiar with.
