The Genius of the Founding Fathers and the Corruption of Absolute Power

The founding fathers developed a political system in which the interest of politicians is tied to the well being of the people. Such is the genius of the founding fathers and the reason why today, Americans enjoy the highest standard of living in the world.

In countries where leaders run political systems in which their interest is not tied to the interest of the people, these countries become vehicles of self-interest. The country improves only when these leaders profit from the improvement. The country deteriorates if the deterioration serves the interest of absolute leaders. Thus in such a system, populations are held captive to the whims of absolute power. There is no such thing as a benevolent dictator. Absolute power corrupts absolutely and men are naturally inclined to corruption when there are no checks on behavior. Incentives must be created to reward the right behavior from leaders. Man left to his own devices will seek selfish gain.
