The Firearm in America
Since the beginning of time man has wanted to extend power beyond his own hand. For centuries man has wanted to make this dream come true. There were tools other than a spear or sword that could inflict injury or death on the enemy. There were bows and arrows and catapults but a bowman (archer) would take years to train. Catapults were as large and intimidating as they were, really made it impossible to hit a man-sized target and took many people to operate; and on top of that it was very difficult to move from or battle to battle. This meant that the men of the ancient world needed something that would both be accurate, lethal, and simple enough for one man to operate.
Before there were ever any guns, there was gunpowder. Its unknown when, where and by whom gunpowder was invented; But truly it changed the world forever (A&E). By most historical accounts gunpowder was created by the Chinese for incendiary and pyrotechnic weapons (Polla...
