The Fight Against Ritalin and Adderall
Stimulant medications were first given to children with ADD symptoms in 1937 (Booth 6). People of all types are currently on medications treating Attention Deficit Disorder, from 80 year old men to infant children as young as two years old. Medications range from 5 mg tablets of Ritalin to 30 mg tablets of Adderall. Although there are benefits from taking Ritalin and Adderall, there are much more negative effects on a person. This paper will examine three ideas in favor on the thesis and one against: Ritalin and Adderall show little improvement in academic and social skills, Ritalin is misused and over marketed, Ritalin helps you concentrate, and Ritalin and Adderall have many adverse effects.
