Introduction:
The short story, “The Epic of Gilgamesh”, is the first story written in history by an unknown author. This story was written anywhere from 3500-1000 B.C.E. during the Urban Revolution and Civilization. The Epic of Gilgamesh describes a story about an ancient half god half human person named Gilgamesh. This story was written after the great flood, of the Euphrates and tells readers about life before the flood. The story was divided in three shorter chapters, Gilgamesh King in Urak, Coming of Enkindu, and The Flood Story.
Summary:
The Epic of Gilgamesh was an ancient story that explained early civilization’s beliefs and ways of living before the flood of the Euphrates. It seems to be written by an unnamed author. The narrator starts of by introducing Gilgamesh and his great powers. He states, “I will proclaim to the world the deeds of Gilgamesh.” (59) Gilgamesh was son of the ancient king of Sumer. The na...
