THE ELEMENTS OF STYLE BY SHUNK AND WHITE

I believe it was a friend of mine that laughed sonorously when I told them I had to read The Elements of Style. “Good luck with that,” was the advice that most people gave me when they heard me speak of this book. I had already read Bird by Bird, which I found to be one of the most interesting books on writing that I have ever read. So, undoubtedly, I expected this book to be the same. I probably should have realized what my friends had been telling me, but I was too caught up in the reading fever. Nevertheless, when I began this book, I let out a cry for help. Not only was it not a story, it was also resembling the form of a textbook. So although this was one of the smaller books required this summer, I definitely took me the longest to read. After forcing myself, page by page, to finish this book, I realized to my satisfaction that it was a big help to me.
