The Effects of Radiation From an Atom Bomb

Radiation from an atom bomb, like the one dropped on Hiroshima, is just as

destructive as the actual blast caused by it. The only thing is, radiation is not just a one-time deal, it clings on to its victims for years, and has a dramatic effect on the environment. The damage done by the radiation depends on how close you are to where the center is. Around 100,000 people were instantly killed by the blast, or from the fires that started soon after, but many other people died weeks, months or even years later from the effects of radiation in their bodies.
Of the total people who died in Hiroshima, 50% of people died in the blast, 35% died in the fires that the blast caused, and 15% died from the longer termed radiation effects.
