The Drive

I was a traveler with no destination. I was in a world that belonged to me; a world where I could contemplate and relax. As the warm summer air swept across my face, my lungs exhaled worries and inhaled pure contentment. This world of mine was marked with yellow strips and green signs. It shone deep black on those summer evenings, slightly reflecting the deep summer sun.
The key to my world shared another purpose. It brought to life my 5-speed companion. My car radiated energy and power even when it was parked. Its custom pearl glow yellow paint and road-hugging body was beyond intimidating. Its engine held the brute force of 400 horses. There were two personalities to my car. It was tranquil and quiet, slowly meandering through the trees without waking a mouse. On the other hand, a beast would emerge, sending such alarming waves of power through the driver that a very intense physiological response was imminent.
With the roof off and the sun out, I left ...
