The Death Penalty: Should Non-Murder Crimes Get It?

Adam Liptak wrote an article on Louisiana renewing the debate of the death penalty for crimes other than murder. A man was giving the death penalty for raping an 8-year old girl. In 1995, a Louisiana law was enacted after convicting Patrick O. Kennedy for raping a girl under 12. The federal government has laws that allow the death penalty for crimes besides murder. Many people question if these laws are constitutional.
Certain crimes do deserve the death penalty, such as rape, child molestation, and perjury that causes someone’s demise.
