The Crucible

There is no doubt that John Proctor was in a moral dilemma. Either he lies and says that he was in on all that witchcraft or he tells the truth. Which they may think is a lie, and he will still hang. He just isn’t able to think right. He asks Elizabeth “Would you give them such a lie?” She didn’t answer though.
If John Proctor were to lie and say he was with the devil, he would be able to save his life. He would also to be with Elizabeth and the upcoming child. When deputy Danforth asks him if he had anything to do with the devil, he does lie. He told them he did, but as Danforth asks if he saw certain people with the devil like Rebecca Nurse and Martha Corey Proctor said he didn’t. That was the truth though.
