The Count of Monte Cristo

One of the key themes this novel depicts that has a large effect on the outcome of The Count of Monte Cristo is love. Mercedes says, “I love Edmond Dantes, and no other man will be my husband.” Edmond still has a deep love for Mercedes while he is in prison, but Mercedes loses love and hope in him and eventually marries Fernand.
Love also plays a large part in the lives we live today. Love can be an ever-harmful weapon, if two people abuse it.
