My Total Experience with the Color Purple

To choose a novel of “literary merit” to read was a task that was very difficult for me to perform. There are countless numbers of great novels out there that clutter libraries around the world. I had found a list of recommended books of “literary merit”, and because of my love for reading, I felt compelled to read every single one of them. To pick out just one novel to read was a difficult challenge for me that took a couple of days to figure out. After many endless days of searching for the perfect novel to read in the library, I narrowed down my final choice to the Pulitzer Prize winning novel, The Color Purple, by Alice Walker. I have heard many great things about this novel in the past from people who have read it before, and figured I would give this novel a chance.
