The Color of Water

I have just begun the book “The Color of Water.” When I first started the book it was a little confusing but I figured it out… all it was is that every chapter it changes from the story of James McBride to the story of his mother, Rachel Shilsky.
First I will read his mothers story then James’ story.
So far Rachel shilsky has talked about how she is a rabbi’s daughter, born in Roland and raised in the south, who fled to Harlem, married and black man, founded a Baptist church, and had 12 children that all went to college.
This book seems kind of interesting, although I have to finish it, I might not enjoy it, or read it like other books I have read.
So far, all his mother has talked about is how her father used to sexually abuse her when they went swimming at the beach and she felt very frightened
One, because of what her father did to her while at the beach.
