In this book Jimmy Blacksmith, a half cast aboriginal, goes through many dilemmas over his heritage and being torn apart due to indecision of his future. Jimmy often believes he is as valuable as a Caucasian man in society if not more, but the white characters in this book portray him as “another abo”.

Throughout Jimmy’s short life he tries very hard to prove himself of a worthy individual, trying hard to earn a good keep and gain respect from the whites.
