THE CATCHER IN THE RYE

Holden Caulfield, the main character in J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye, is what I believe to be one of the well-developed characters which I have read about. He has many characteristics that are his own, such as the way he views the entire world, his friends and his family. One of the main things that characterizes his life is ‘Holden is a kid who is trapped in the adult world and seems lost within himself.’ This is the essence if his life which is being discussed below.

Holden's depression starts with the death of his brother, Allie and so other events in his life leads him to be depressed. The manner that Holden sees himself and how he sees others leads him to be expelled from school. He goes to his teacher to seek some comfort but he comes back to his room hopeless. Holden, at one place expresses his depression by saying, "One thing about packing depressed me a little,”. Holden expresses these feelings when he packs his bags after being expelled from the schoo...
