The Canterbury Tales-The Miller's Tale

The Miller’s tale takes place at a carpenter’s house in Oxford. The characters that are in his story include John, Alison, Nicholas, and Absalon. John, a successful carpenter, had recently married his second wife, Alison. Alison is a young woman who knows how to make herself look beautiful. Nicholas is a lodger who lives with John and Alison and enjoys astrology. Absalon serves at the church that John and Alison attend as a parish clerk.
The beautiful Alison is fancied by many men. Being as attractive as she is, John is a very jealous man and keeps a close watch on her. One day John leaves and Nicholas and Alison are left home alone. Nicholas is a handsome young man and is very good with women. While John is gone, Nicholas persuades Alison into having an affair with him and assures her that they will not get caught because of how clever he is.
Absalon is also a young handsome man, who often imagines himself in love with Alison. Absalon, working at the church, always watched Al...
