The Buddha


Who is the Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama, and what are his influences on the people around him. This paper will explore these questions along with how the religion of Buddhism came about and how the Buddha created it. As well it will include not only what influenced Buddha to start preaching, but what influenced people to listen.
Siddhartha Gautama, who would later be known as the Buddha, was born in Nepal around the year 563 B.C. He was the son of two important people. Siddhartha’s father’s name was Shuddhodana, the King of the Sakyas, his mother, Queen Maya. Siddhartha got his name from one of his mother’s dreams.
