The Battle of Saratoga and its effects on the outcome of the American Revolution

The battle of Saratoga is considered to be a major turning point in the American Revolution. This particular battle proved to the world that the poorly put together and trained American army could defeat highly trained British forces in a military encounter.
The battle of Saratoga begins on September 19, 1777. The British army was nearing the American camp in three separate columns. Two of them went through the thick forests covering the region, and the third, which consisted mainly of German troops, marched down the river road. Americans tracked-down the British army, headed up by General Burgoyne, and notified the American troops, headed by General Gates.
