John Adams, second president of the United States of America once said that the real history of the American Revolution began as far back as 1620, “The revolution was in the people’s minds and hearts. The principles and feelings which lead the Americans to rebel can be traced back to the first plantation in America”.
As a practical matter, however, the overt parting between the ways of England and America began in 1763, By that time more than a century and a half had passed since the first settlement had been founded at Jamestown, Virginia, and the several colonies had grown vastly in economic strength and cultural attainments. Virtually all of them had long years of self-government behind them. Their combined population now exceeded 1,500,000- a increase from 250,000 since 1700.
