The 5 Ways of St. Thomas Aquinas

Does God exist? This is the timeless question that has plagued mankind, scientists, philosophers, and ordinary men alike. Many men have tried to argue the existence or non-existence of God, and only a few have presented the world with even half-decent answers. St. Thomas Aquinas was one of the few who tried to put an end to this never-ending debate.

St. Thomas’ famous “5 Ways” is one of the best arguments of proving God’s existence. Aquinas, being one of the forerunners of Scholasticism – the philosophy that reconciles faith with reason – attempted to explain the basis for believing in God by applying scientific laws in his “theological” syllogism. Science, which is the branch of knowledge based on the process of Induction – the reasoning from particular to universal – was, and is the accepted source of truth.
