In Thailand there are many different houses and conditions of living. Some people are poor so they don’t live in such as nice conditions as the more fortunate people. The poorer people have houses that are most of the time broken down and rickety looking wooden houses. This is what it is like in northern Thailand. Other types of houses that are common are stilt mounted houses. You can find these houses where canals and rivers are. This stilt mounting of houses helps gives protection to the houses if the river overflows or in the rainy season floods the areas. The wooden houses near the river have their front door facing the river.
