Purpose: I think that the drive behind Mr. Rodriguez’s writing is his own curiosity towards how he has ended up so cut-off from his own culture. He may also be trying to reach out and talk to others who might share similar problems with cultural identification. The writing also has a sense of purging or somehow trying to lighten his soul by putting his life in such a brutally bright and truthful light.
