Tell-Tale Heart Edgar Allen Poe

Analysis of the Tell-Tale Heart.

1. What´s the mood? Give examples. You may find that the mood changes somewhat. How does the mood link to the theme? The mood is very gloomy, because the story is very dark and scary. “One of his eyes resembled that of a vulture.” The mood changes on p.3 “With a loud yell….” Before this sequence he has been very calm and relaxed, but here he goes crazy.
2. Analyse the narrator’s composition in delivering his proof that he’s not mad. Give examples. What does this tell us about him? Include setting.
3. Comment on p.2, 2nd pragraph, lines 5,6 and connect it wih p. 3, 9th line from the bottom: “With a loud yell…” On p.2 he is very calm and relaxed, and he has nothing but laughter (til overs) to the fact, that the old man might have heard him. Whereas on p.3 he is very nervous and jumpy.
