Dear Editor,

I am writing in regard to the article in the September 8th issue of the Herald Press, which discussed the topic of distance learning. Much of the article dismissed the idea of Internet classes as a true form of education, and labeled it as a unrespectable way to further one’s education. However, as a technology professor at Eastern Connecticut State University, I truly feel that Internet classes are a great idea, especially in classes such as my own that are based on computers and the Internet. I recently began teaching an online class and in this situation, I actually found that students learned more than they did in a regular classroom setting because there was no way to avoid using their computer and the internet to complete the assignments. It also allowed students to move at their own pace. Students these days have varying knowledge of computers and internet and it can take one student three times...
