Tears in the Sand

The year is 2108. For the past ten years, the world’s most crucial resource has run short; the water supply. Global warming has reduced peoples’ lives to a constant struggle for survival. Organized crime is now controlling the distribution of water, and is setting ridiculously high prices. Water is being sold anywhere from two thousand to ten thousand dollars per litre. There have been many attempts to shut down this organization, but it has many followers and much power, much like the “Mafia” of the 20th Century. The world is much different than it was, and peoples’ hope is running thin.
Bethsheba Zimmerman walks into the bathroom of her small apartment in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Most of Canada’s population moved up north when global warming had begun, where the melting ice caps provided much water.
