Talking dirty: censorship in america

George Orwell warns society of the dangers of censorship 50 years ago through his prophetic novel 1984. In his work, Orwell paints a vivid picture of a totalitarian society in which the elite decide what is truth. Language is the first casualty. Unfortunately, Orwell’s predictions seem to be materializing as America’s elite drain the lifeblood of society through their efforts to sanitize it. Censorship poses a threat to the future of society by denying citizens their right to the freedom of speech, expression and perhaps most dangerously, their intellectual freedom. First and foremost, censorship infringes upon the American civil liberties protected by the United States Constitution.
