Synopisis of To Kill A Mockingbird

To Kill A Mockingbird, is set in the small southern town of Maycomb, Alabama during the depression. The story is told through the eyes of eight-year old Jean Louise Finch whose nickname is Scott. Scott recalls the three years of her childhood beginning with the summer before she enters first grade. Scott and her brother Jem are being raised by their lawyer father Atticus, a widower.
That first summer, they make friends with Dill Harris, who comes to live with his aunt for the summer, and they act out several stories and fantasies together. Soon Dill becomes fascinated with the spooky house near by which is known as the Radley Place. Nathan Radley owns the house and his brother Arthur, known as Boo, has lived there for several years without coming outside and is assumed to be insane.
As time goes by, Scott and Jem find presents in the knothole of an old tree...
