Symbolism in Of Mice And Men

What is symbolism? Symbolism is the practice of representing things by means of symbols or of attributing symbolic meanings or significance to objects, events, or relationships. In John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men”, the theme of symbolism is clearly portrayed through the killing of Candy’s dog. Not only does this relate to the death of Lennie; however, it relates to the associated feelings of George and Candy. Both the killing of Lennie and Candy’s dog were acts of mercy done merely to end the grief of both animal and human.
