Symbolisim found within the Great Gatsby

Used to emphasize commentary, colors, particular objects, certain events, and specific locations are just a few of the many symbols used in The Great Gatsby (TGG). These symbolic structures are used in order to add depth and clarity to Fitzgerald’s contextual society of new money versus old money.
The automobile is an important habitual theme throughout The Great Gatsby. The more expensive the car the more the owner possess financially, as shown with Mr. James Gatz, the protagonist of The Great Gatsby. His car is described, as " a rich cream color, bright with nickel, swollen here and there in its monstrous length with triumphant hatboxes and supper-boxes and tool-boxes, and terraced with a labyrinth of windshields that mirrored a hundred suns." (Fitzgerald, 68) By the way it is described Gatsby's car becomes the embodiment of prosperity. The true reason for him buying the car is to communicate his materialistic success and newly found prosperity.
