Surviving My Childhood

It was an average 5th grade school day for me as I was riding home on the bus. I reach the apartments where I lived and noticed that someone had been evicted from their apartment. Where I lived this was common. One thing that was not common, however, was for someone like me to get off of the bus and realize that those were my belongings on the side of the road. Things like my photo albums, my bed, all of my clothes, and our dishes were scattered about. Not very much of it was left because throughout the day people had been stopping and taking whatever they pleased. Being evicted has been one of many things in my childhood I had to deal with. My mother was an alcoholic and a drug addict. I’ve had to go through many trials and tribulations because of her.
