Supervising a small work group while dating one of the employees

Dating is not always that easy. Dating and being a supervisor at the same time is even harder. My boyfriend and I have been together almost three years. About nine months ago we both were hired at the same work place. We eventually started working together on the same work group. We would talk and basically acted like best friends. When I was promoted to a supervisor and I found out I was coming back to the same team, we thought nothing of it. The other employees knew that we were dating. I had to show my boyfriend less attention than ever to make sure that the other employees didn’t think I was showing favoritism. It is complicated to separate the two sides of our lives but it is something we have to manage to keep our jobs.
