Sunrise vs Metropolis

Sunrise and Metropolis both use the expressionist motif to show views of society. Where both demonstrate the downfalls of what modernization can bring to people, they both present different solutions. Metropolis portrays a society controlled by a dictator, but eventually all the problems are solved by a mediator and the society seems to go on mostly like before. In Sunrise a city woman comes and stirs things up in a quiet country village. In the end the evils of the city are expelled and the quiet peaceful life of the locals returns to normal.
