Summer Vacation

The mood in this poem is definitely on the sad side. Several of the words are depressing; lonely, emptiness disappears, distant, blue. When I read over the poem I think of an old lonely man who is on a search for companionship. I see a continuous river with no one in sight. The flowers turned down seem to reflect his outlook. There is not a whole lot of action in the poem, no quick movements, at least. I think of it more as a long and slow journey. The emotion is dismal, I almost feel bad for this man....
