Summer Reading

Book One
1. Winston Smith was described as a kind of short and thin guy who was 39 years old. Although it seemed that Orwell described him as a small person, I feel that his personality doesn’t exactly fit with his physical shape. Winston Smith was a smart person, but most people might just say that he just remembered very well. He would constantly question Big Brothers ideals. Throughout the novel Smith’s actions showed that he just wanted to break the laws. This would bring out his rebel side. Some of the things that he did that were against the law were keeping a journal which was prohibited, and having sex with Julia which was also prohibited. But in a way Winston Smith was still being obedient to the Big Brother "government". He still worked for the government and did his job; he would just do a lot of things secretly. This was a sign of Smith fearing the Big Brother government. Smith would write in his journal in a place where the telescreen can't see him doing it. At times...
