Summary on “Columbus, The Indians, And Human Progress” By Howard Zinn Howard Zinn’s purpose of writing this book is to have the reader understand history through the eyes of the slaves, the Native American’s, the lower class people, indentured workers, and the women. His purpose is to expose omitted occurrences from the past, so that society now can use that knowledge to obtain full knowledge of our nation’s past and potential future. Zinn proposes to tell history from the point of view of history’s “victims”. He proposes to tell it without “reproach, blame, or condemning” anyone involved in the historic events. He proposes for the reader to be open-minded about other perspectives relating to the history of people of all walks of life. Zinn states that the atrocities committed though out history and time was a price that had to be paid in order for advancement and improvement to evolve throughout the world. ...
