Summary of The Great Gatsby When Gatsby was a young boy, he lived Minnesota with his parents who were unsuccessful farmers. He followed the book Hopalong Cassidy to improve himself. This book provided a day-to-day schedule and general resolves. When he was seventeen, he created the name Jay Gatsby and he lived a life by Lake Superior fishing.
