Summary

As research continues to develop and advance, one finding has remained consistent across studies; The engagement of students in the material being discussed in any content area is essential to comprehension as well as in fostering a continued desire to learn. And all of this can only occur if the students schema, or prior knowledge, is activated. Researcher Alan M. Frager explored the areas of affect involved in the process of reading for comprehension in the content areas.
