Money and Success
“The Myth of Individual Opportunity” may be many things. I believe it has a lot to do with success. Being successful doesn’t mean being rich or famous. Money is very important to be successful, but people must work hard for their money. I believe being successful means to have future goals to accomplish or to do something worthwhile with your life. A lot of people also need luck to be successful. People need luck when they head out into the work force. It is also very important to have an education because without an education, people won’t be as successful as they would be if they went to school.
In Alger’s essay, everything was pretty much based on luck. Alger pretty much tells us to succeed against the odds. I believe the purpose of this essay is to teach us one way people can be successful.
