“Story of an Hour”

Without a doubt "Story of and Hour", written by Kate Chopin, is largely about women's suffrage, rather than simply about a women dying of heart complications from the shock of discovering her husband is still alive after being told he had died. I believe that Chopin wrote this story to describe her discontent in the way that society viewed women, and the way that a women would and is able feel and act if she were given a glimpse of soul filled freedom.
Despite the opening line that later leads the reader to believe that Mrs. Mallard died from a heart attack triggered by a joyful shock that her husband was actually alive, I believe that she died from a broken heart. She did not die from a broken heart in the sense that she had lost another loved one in her life, shed dies from the loss of the liberation that she felt upon hearing the news of her husband's death.
