Stop Hazing!

On September 12th, 2003, a group of high school football players headed for Camp

Wayne Pennsylvania. What should have been an ordinary summer training camp for the

team turned out to be a nightmare for the players, their families, and the community of

Mepham, PA. The week began with practices and “harmless” initiation rites and ended

with three fourteen year old boys being physical and emotionally beaten. The three boys

were freshmen who the varsity felt needed to be initiated. The team jeered and demeaned

the boys as they were beaten and sodomized with broomsticks. The parent of one of the

accused assaulters referred to the situation as, “A hazing incident gone bad.” All the

accused assaulters are still attending school with the victims.(1)
