Stonewall Jackson

BEFORE HE WAS FAMOUS
Jackson’s life was a result of his younger years. Growing up with paternal uncles, Jackson never received much love. (1842-1846) Shortly after living with a relative in Jackson’s Mill, Jackson attended United States Military Academy at West Point. While Jackson was in the academy he was not the first congressional district appointed, the first runner up had withdrew. Jackson in the year 1846 of June graduated from the academy being the 17th out of 59 graduates. Around 1844 Jackson begin his U.S army career as the 2nd lieutenant Artillery Regiment. During the years 1846- 1851 Jackson became a United States Army officer. Jackson also fought in the Mexican War, stationed at Car list Barracks, PA;Ft. Hamilton, NY; Ft. Meade, Fl. During April of 1851 Jackson accepted the position to be a teacher at Virginia’s Military Institute (VMI) in Lexington, Virginia.
